Central Auditory Processing problems can occur in adults or more commonly in children. Often a standard hearing test will produce normal results and yet the individual continues to feel they have difficulty with processing auditory information particularly in a noisy environment such as a classroom. This can have a significant impact on academic success. A child may:
- be inattentive or easily distracted
- have difficulty following instructions
- show reading and spelling difficulties
- have problems remembering information
- display poor social skills
What we offer
Through a series of speech tests our Audiologist can assess the function of the central auditory system and provide effective management solutions should a disorder be diagnosed. Solutions may include auditory training sessions with our Speech Pathologist, the use of classroom FM systems or software based auditory training using the Fast ForWord program.
